Extra Extra: The Pineapples Shop

Extra Extra: The Pineapples Shop

I want Pineapple Supply Co. to be the most fun pineapples shop on the web. All while still being a full-time London Architectural Photographer.

Yeah, that sounds crazy; but I believe in the power of the pineapple for good. The symbolism of the pineapple is important to me.

And truthfully, I'd love to simply give everything away for free because this entire project is not about the mighty quest for money. I'm far more interested in how a pineapple can be used to bring positivity, hope, warmth, and awareness and dopeness to people.

I decided that opening up a shop is important to help cover costs of buying more pineapples, website development, website hosting, and time to shoot; however, it's also a way for me to be more dedicated to all things pineapples.

Time Saving Pineapple Collections

Even though I was trying to share a free pineapple photo every day, to download all of them will take time at one point or another. This is especially true if you've discovered the website later in the journey. I've been so busy with my architectural photography and I don't share pineapple photos on the daily right now. The collections still come out though!

Also, having run community at Unsplash, I've talked with many people that wanted to download a large volume of the photos at once for a fee.

Time is the most valuable thing we have today. This is why I'm offering up collections of the free photos in batches of 25 so that it's easy to grab them fast if you need or want them all.

Exclusivity to Photos and Collections

One of the only criticism I came across while with Unsplash was the viral usage of featured photos. Adding a cost to your photos or collections of photos instantly limits the usage. Even a low cost makes a big difference. So, I feel that having a few premium pineapple photos that are paid brings about exclusivity and a VIP nature to some of them.

Will it mean they go totally unused? Potentially. At this time, the individual pineapple photo collections are set to pay what you want. I would love support, but the mission is to spread good vibes more than anything. This means I want my images to spread. It's most important. Know how Seth Godin talked about the idea virus? Well, I think of that and change it to the pineapple virus. haha. At the time of updating this post, my pineapple photos have been downloaded well over 1.3 million times.

Curating Other Pineapple Related Products?

Part of the Pineapples Shop is imagined as a curated collection of pineapple related lifestyle products, things we love and think you might too. This is something inspired by Canopy. While I imagined this would be a good idea, it's actually really confusing for people unless the entire shop is linking out to products. And it sends you away from our flagship pineapple store. I can always share dope pineapple products in the Pineapple Blog

Hit the Pineapples Shop and Shop Like a Pineapple

My goal with opening up shop is to continue to shoot and continue to give. I simply don't want to slap up a ‘donate' button. I want to create meaningful, fun, entertaining creations for you that center around this tropical legend. I want to give you something of value, something that you could build off and help you in your life. Now, all you need to do is go hit up the pineapples shop.
